techtonic experiment II

two distinct volumes are placed on site, one rectangular, another oblique. the former takes on a more 'traditional' architectural expression: proportions, 'rational' forms, material, construction method, etc. meanwhile the latter is of a different breed. its plastic form utilizing 3D modeling techniques (boolean), and the more modern in-situ concrete construction.

and as they say
the story goes this way:
rectangular and oblique sit happily on site
until one day
a mysterious force
sheared rectangular apart
a piece displaced
a collision takes place

conflict of the generations

COMPOSITE MATERIAL
if there are any flaws in this theoretical investigation, it would lie in the nature of the building materials themselves. it is suspected that the bricks would not naturally stay in place and in form without the mortar joint. and lets not even talk about the property bending steel reinforcement used in concrete. theory can only go so far, i suppose. perhaps the idea for building to be entirely techtonically honest is just simply naive.

i dislike the use of words 'traditional' and 'modern' here. they are meant as a pun. the form of the brick building, is nothing but ordinary. however there's hardly anything original and modern about the oblique building and it's concrete technology. with both volumes against one another the juxtaposition and irony becomes very apparent. hopefully.
